tattooing

Sick of constantly touching up your lip product? So were we!

Lip tattooing has become more and more popular, with us now doing almost as many lip tattoos as brow tattoos. When our lip line gets lighter, whether it be from getting older or from lip filler, our lips unfortunately look smaller. By adding the definition back in, our lips can look bigger and more plump.

Almost all of our lip tattoo clients sat that they didn’t know how much they needed a lip tattoo until they got it. It allows you to wake up looking fresher and brighter in the mornings and head straight out the door.

Caitlin has been doing lip tattooing for over 5 years, and Mikaela for just over a year. Both of us have trained with the world’s best artists from across the world.

There are two different styles of lip tattooing: the traditional all over colour, and Ombre.

lip tattoo - 1 colour

In this style, we use one colour all over the lips. This gives the effect of a lipstick. If you’re just wanting a soft, natural result we can space out the shading to make it less saturated, and so will heal to look like a lip tint.

Ombre lip tattoo - 2 colours

This style uses a darker colour around the border of the lip to create the appearance of a lip liner. Because the contrast is greater, the lips will look more defined than a traditional lip tattoo.

Intensity = Longevity

The more intense the initial lip tattoo, the longer it will last.

Intensity = Darkness + Saturation

The darkness is how dark of a pigment you choose. The saturation is how much pigment we put into the skin. We can control how close the dots of pigment are, with more dots meaning more saturation. More defined styles are more saturated in colour, and so will last longer.

The longevity of your lip tattoo will also be affected by a large range of factors including: your pre and aftercare, smoking, sun exposure, skincare in the area, skin treatments in the area, skin type (oily/dry), skin conditions (dermatitis, psoriasis) and skin tone.
